A Seattle native, I grew up hiking and backpacking in the Cascade Mountains and exploring the backroads of the Pacific Northwest.
After college at WSU, I followed my passion for adventure and became a commercial photographer specializing in the outdoors, travel and people images. I was represented by Getty Images and shot assignments for magazines, designers and fine art.
In the late 1990’s, I learned to sea, surf and whitewater kayak. When SUP started in the NW, due to a lack of instruction locally, I taught myself how to paddle and in 2010 started my SUP instruction business, Salmon Bay Paddle.
Soon after, I wrote two guides for Mountaineers Books, “Kayaking Puget Sound and the San Juans” and “Stand Up Paddling Flat Water to Surf and Rivers.” I’ve also written numerous paddling and travel articles for local and national magazines.
My friends are always asking me where to camp, surf and/or explore for the weekend. I started Big Foot Travel to share my love of the PNW with others and to help solve those weekend questions!
I choose ‘Bigfoot Travel’ because I’m a big dude and Bigfoot lore has strong roots in the PNW.
